Gensokyo — A remote land cut off from the Outside World, where humans and youkai live side by side. One day, the maiden of the Hakurei Shrine, Reimu Hakurei, spots mysterious pillars towering over various places throughout Gensokyo. These pillars have marked the start of the Spell Carnival, a festival hosted by Yukari Yakumo in which one must put one’s Spell Cards into play in battle. In order to investigate Yukari Yakumo’s true intentions in starting the Spell Carnival so suddenly, Reimu Hakurei joins the fight for the Spell Cards.
